Hawaii Entry Requirements
An ESTA must be completed prior to travel. Australian and New Zealand nationals may travel to the United States for tourism purposes for stays of 90 days or less under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP). However, travellers are required to have a valid authorisation through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) PRIOR TO TRAVEL. To apply online for an ESTA visit https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/.
Nationals of VWP countries must meet eligibility requirements to travel without a visa on VWP, and therefore, some travellers from VWP countries are not eligible to use the program. Please check http://travel.state.gov/ for requirement details.

When your plane arrives in Hawaii, airline staff will direct you to Immigration Review where you will wait in line for your turn. During the review, hand your passport, a completed entry or exit record card and your customs declaration to the examiner (these will be distributed on the plane). The inspector will ask you some simple questions about your reasons for staying in the United States, the length of your intended stay and may ask you for your return ticket for reference. After the review has been completed, the reviewer will stamp your passport and issue a formal 1-94 form to you. This form will clearly indicate to US Customs the type of entry and potential duration of stay. Once this is finished, you may move on to Customs Declaration.
The natural beauty of Hawaii’s fragile environment comes from its geographical isolation from other ecosystems. It’s important to know that bringing plants, produce or animals can introduce pests and non-endemic species that could be destructive to Hawaii’s environment.
The US Department of Agriculture enforces strict rules regarding the exportation of uninspected plants and animals and requires a declaration form for each person arriving in Hawaii. When departing, your luggage must pass a pre-flight screening for uninspected fruits and plants. You are welcome to take inspected fresh flowers and fruits home. Items purchased at the airport or mailed home from local vendors are inspected for you.
